All over the place, from the popular culture to the propaganda system, there is constant pressure to make people feel that they are helpless, that the only role they can have is to ratify decisions and to consume.
Don’t believe everything you read. The art of conversation has moved onto a platform inconceivably large, and large brands are now able to target us from the little boxes in our hands. We are now too often thought of as consumers, instead of organic human beings, and this isn’t good for our wellbeing. Remember who you really are. A sensitive human being with a creative mind and limitless opportunities that are easily found when we look inward and realise our true potential. I’d encourage you to reduce your social media consumption, watch less television, and stop reading celebrity magazines. There is a reason you are being fed these things – you are being sedated and controlled. 1984 has been and gone; not only in time, but Orwell’s disquieting warning has gone unheeded. These media channels fill our minds (and time) with consumerist nonsense. You could be utilising your precious time, and your incredible mind, to build a beautiful life for yourself. Use that time to get amongst nature, walk in the countryside, go to the forest, walk on the seashore barefoot with your feet in the water – I do it every single day. I listen to the rhythm of the sea and allow myself to be captivated by the waves, because nature’s rhythm is the one that we naturally beat to.
